DESIGN CHALLENGE
DESIGN PROCESS
USER RESEARCH
Interviews and analysis
After interviewing eight participants, we moved our transcripts into a spreadsheet and began coding for analysis. During this process, we decided that consumers will be our main focus group. Our primary consumers will be locals/natives who have lived in the Greater Toronto Area for a decade or more, and our secondary consumers are international consumers who are new to the area.
Brainstorm and idea prioritization
In this activity, we focused heavily on finding commonalities between interviews and brainstorming different needs of the user. As a group, we also thought about what features might be important to have to prompt community engagement that were mainly based on secondary research.
PERSONAS
USER JOURNEY
The User Journey activity allowed us to brainstorm the main functions of the product and align it with our personas’ feelings and pain points. This activity allowed us to look at the various opportunities that could rise as we build each step, which act as key points to highlight when thinking about building our wireframes.
USER FLOW
We outline the structure of the product. From registration, onboarding to configuring the main features, we were able to see a bigger picture of what the product can be designed to. It was also effective in establishing what features will be important in tackling our HMW statement.
Low-fidelity
Our group worked individually on developing low-fidelity wireframes that would work best to target the user needs and pain points that we have established previously. Then we collectively gathered them in the Mural board and began leaving comments and critiques on each others’ screens to refer to when we are developing the actual prototype.
Mid-fidelity
USABILITY TEST
To conduct our user testing, we utilized a platform called usertesting.com to reach out to numerous participants from all over the world. We conducted our user testing in three phases and were able to formulate the test plan structured around the DECIDE framework.
